This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.
• Establish the product and engineering vision that directs software development priorities across all teams.
• Develop the long-term technology vision and collaborate with business leadership on technology strategy.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and identify innovative technologies that could disrupt the market.
• Make conclusive decisions regarding technology adoption and determine the engineering technology stack.
• Set architectural principles and evaluate high-level architectural decisions.
• Supervise software delivery across engineering teams and oversee development timelines.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration with external technology providers and manage dependencies.
• Establish quality standards and supervise testing tools, infrastructure, monitoring systems, and disaster recovery plans.
• Formulate security policies and compliance objectives while managing the technology budget.
• Collaborate with legal and security teams on matters of security and compliance.
• Inspire, motivate, and develop engineering teams and their leaders.
• Initiate training, mentorship, and talent management programs.
• Cultivate a future engineering talent pipeline.
• Define engineering metrics, track productivity trends, prioritize process enhancements, and communicate process updates.
• Extensive experience in software engineering, with significant leadership experience in engineering teams and departments.
• Demonstrated success in establishing technical vision and architectural principles across multiple teams or an entire engineering organization.
• Strong background in selecting and assessing technology stacks, as well as managing complex external technology dependencies and vendor relations.
• Profound understanding of software quality, testing infrastructure, and monitoring practices on a large scale.
• Experience in defining and managing security policies, compliance programs, and technology budgets.
• Excellent leadership abilities with a proven record of building high-performing engineering teams and talent pipelines.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills when collaborating with senior business leadership on product and technology timelines.
• Strategic thinking with the capability to align technology decisions with business goals.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of progressive software engineering experience, including more than 3 years in a senior engineering leadership position.
• Experience leading engineering teams within a global, distributed organization (preferred).
• Familiarity with cloud-native and AI/ML-adjacent technology stacks (preferred).
• Proven history of scaling engineering teams and organizations during periods of rapid growth (preferred).
