Director of Communications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a proactive external communications and public relations strategy to position Flock as a frontrunner in public safety technology.

• Take charge of crisis communications and issues management.

• Actively mitigate narrative risks and safeguard the company’s reputation across public platforms.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to enhance the thought leadership of the founder and executives.

• Secure impactful keynote opportunities and placements in top-tier media outlets.

• Establish measurable metrics for brand sentiment, media reach, and narrative management across key growth markets.

• Report directly to the VP of Communications.

• Lead and develop a small, high-performing team of media relations specialists.

• Assist in managing external agency support.

• Write, strategize, and execute initiatives in collaboration with the team.

• Cultivate team judgment for high-stakes situations involving Tier 1 media.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8-10 years of experience in communications, media relations, or PR leadership.

• Ideally experienced in technology, public policy, or fast-paced growth environments.

• Demonstrated success in managing crisis communications.

• Experience with high-stakes public safety or policy narratives.

• Established relationships with top-tier national media.

• Strong executive presence.

• Experience in media training and advising C-suite executives.

• Background in policy communications or a willingness to learn about the function, players, and strategies (preferred).

• Experience in the public sector, law enforcement, or civic technology fields (preferred).

• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

• Capable of meeting Criminal Justice Information Services certification requirements if necessary, including compliance with FBI CJIS Security Policy and a fingerprint-based background check.
