đź“‹ Description

• Design and execute access strategies that facilitate appropriate patient access to Alexion’s medications within Kaiser Permanente’s integrated care and coverage framework.

• Spearhead account strategy, planning, negotiations, and contracts with national and regional stakeholders at Kaiser Permanente.

• Propel the implementation of brand access strategies across various Kaiser Permanente affiliates and regions.

• Establish and nurture relationships with senior leaders in medical, pharmacy, formulary, contracting, population health, and benefits.

• Collaborate with HEOR, Medical, field sales, contracting, patient services, and brand experts to convey the value of the portfolio.

• Formulate comprehensive customer strategies encompassing health plan coverage, clinical pathways, formulary reviews, specialty pharmacy, infusion, provider-administered drugs, and member experience.

• Provide internal teams with education on Kaiser Permanente’s coverage policies, regional variations, formulary processes, benefit management, utilization management, and exception pathways.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to enhance access solutions for patients, providers, and care teams.

• Craft customized solutions that address challenges related to product access, referrals, authorizations, reimbursement, site-of-care, coding, and care coordination.

• Identify potential threats and opportunities while coordinating execution against account priorities at both regional and national levels.

• Present product value, conduct disease-state education, engage in pre-approval information exchanges, and negotiate contracts.

• Perform regular business reviews to assess contract performance, access outcomes, policy implementation, utilization trends, and patient-access opportunities.

• Offer insights on Kaiser Permanente’s priorities, evidence needs, regional decision-making processes, and emerging access risks.

• Engage HEOR and Medical stakeholders during Kaiser Permanente meetings.

• Analyze market dynamics, integrated delivery network priorities, biosimilar and affordability strategies, utilization management, competitive behaviors, and business impacts.

• Report directly to the Senior Director, Payer Account Team Lead.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study.

• Over 10 years of experience in Market Access within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry.

• At least 5 years of experience in an account management role, responsible for national payers, integrated delivery networks, health systems, PBMs, specialty pharmacies, or vertically integrated payer clients.

• Proven experience managing accounts related to Kaiser Permanente, integrated delivery networks, vertically integrated payers, national payer organizations, or PBM clients.

• Established relationships or a demonstrated ability to foster connections with Kaiser Permanente’s national and regional medical, pharmacy, formulary, contracting, and population health stakeholders.

• Experience in negotiating contracts with payers, integrated delivery systems, PBMs, specialty pharmacies, or regional health plans.

• In-depth knowledge of U.S. managed markets, including commercial and government payers, integrated delivery networks, medical benefit management, pharmacy benefit management, and formulary decision-making.

• Proven success in securing appropriate coverage for specialty medicines under both medical and pharmacy benefits.

• Exceptional collaboration, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to interpret complex clinical and economic evidence for payer, pharmacy, medical, and internal audiences.

• Willingness to travel at least 60% of the time, including significant overnight and occasional weekend travel.

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

• Capability to travel using public transportation, automobile, train, or airplane.

• Comfort in working within clinical or payer environments.

• Proficient in computer skills.

• Competence in communicating through phone, video, and electronic messaging.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with others while maintaining general availability during standard business hours.

• An MBA, MPH, PharmD, or another advanced degree is preferred.

• Experience in securing access for rare disease medications is preferred.

• An understanding of reimbursement methodologies, prior authorization, exceptions, step therapy, formulary placements, site-of-care management, and payer coverage policies is preferred.

• Clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge of complex disease states and rare disease therapeutic areas is preferred.

• Experience in developing and executing payer contracting strategies is preferred.

• A track record of securing rapid coverage for the launches of new products and indications is preferred.
