This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +35 more states.
• Provide strategic guidance for enterprise cloud and infrastructure platforms that support essential IT, business, and clinical operations.
• Oversee the design, implementation, modernization, and operational management of cloud, data center, compute, storage, virtualization, operating systems, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, network, observability, automation, and operational support services.
• Develop and implement technology roadmaps that align with organizational goals.
• Define the cloud strategy and target state, including governance and optimization of cloud services and SaaS platforms.
• Lead the assessment, selection, and deployment of software platforms and cloud services.
• Establish the product direction for internal cloud platforms, encompassing landing zones, identity, automation enablement, observability, and container platforms.
• Own the cloud operating model, which includes service catalog, escalation model, SLAs/SLOs, and governance.
• Create cloud roadmaps and investment plans that address capabilities, deprecations, technical debt reduction, and modernization milestones.
• Set cloud and platform standards, architectural patterns, reference designs, and approved services.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity on cloud controls, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and compliance evidence generation.
• Lead initiatives for identity, access, and role-based security for enterprise applications and cloud services.
• Manage the cloud service lifecycle and change/release governance for shared platforms.
• Ensure digital engineering and integration enablement for system implementations and upgrades.
• Supervise application integration and data exchange between enterprise systems and cloud services.
• Direct the application rewrite efforts for data-center-to-cloud migration while maintaining application modernization plans.
• Implement operational controls for account/subscription structure, network segmentation, secrets management, access reviews, and backup/disaster recovery posture.
• Promote operational excellence through improved incident management maturity, runbooks, on-call health, and post-incident reviews.
• Lead and nurture Cloud Platform Architects, cloud platform engineers, SRE/platform SRE, cloud security engineers, and digital engineers.
• Recruit, coach, manage performance, and plan for succession.
• Foster reliability engineering practices, including SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, capacity planning, and resilience testing.
• Cultivate a culture of automation and learning through blameless postmortems, reliability initiatives, thorough documentation, and internal platform product thinking.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in leadership roles managing engineering teams.
• 5+ years of experience leading microservices cloud architecture, design, and implementation at scale.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with Kubernetes-deployed workloads on a cloud platform.
• Familiarity with AI development tools.
• Proven track record with platform operating models and product-driven delivery methodologies.
• Hands-on experience in designing and scaling public cloud platforms, preferably AWS and Azure.
• Experience with large-scale cloud migrations and modernization projects.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Preferred: Experience in the healthcare industry.
• Preferred: Professional-level certifications on public cloud platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of at least one cloud provider such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure, along with familiarity with other cloud services.
• Experience in cloud cost optimization.
• Additional related education and/or experience is preferred.
