This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Direct Assurant's global trade compliance initiative.
• Create, execute, and enhance governance, policies, procedures, and internal controls related to import, export, sanctions, and customs compliance.
• Ensure adherence to U.S. Export Administration Regulations, OFAC sanctions, U.S. Customs regulations, international customs laws, and foreign trade regulations.
• Provide guidance to executive leadership and business stakeholders regarding global trade risks, opportunities, and strategies for value creation.
• Supervise customs compliance for mobile devices, service parts, accessories, and technology.
• Oversee HTS classifications, country-of-origin determinations, customs valuation, duty assessment, customs brokers, and trade service providers.
• Manage export classifications, restricted-party screening, sanctions compliance, export licensing, and government authorizations.
• Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with restricted destinations, restricted parties, military end users, controlled technologies, software, and technical data.
• Perform enterprise-wide risk assessments, internal audits, compliance reviews, monitoring, investigations, corrective actions, and remediation efforts.
• Lead government audits, inquiries, disclosures, and remediation processes.
• Establish compliance metrics, dashboards, executive reporting, and maintain accurate recordkeeping.
• Create and implement trade compliance training and awareness initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Director of Global Supply Chain Compliance to align global trade compliance strategies.
• Manage 1–2 direct reports, including a Compliance Analyst.
• Approve responsible expenses and contribute to the annual budget planning.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in global trade compliance.
• At least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience supporting multinational import/export activities.
• Proven track record in managing customs and export compliance programs.
• Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in mobile or technology sectors is advantageous.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT is beneficial.
• Background in supply chain and vendor risk management is a plus.
• Knowledge of EAR, OFAC sanctions compliance, customs valuation, HTS classification, country-of-origin analysis, free trade agreements, duty drawback, foreign trade zones, reverse logistics operations, and mobile device repair/refurbishment supply chains.
• Ability to demonstrate project management, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and data analysis skills.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent deliverables.
