Director, Financial Systems Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the reconciliation system for contracts sold, merchant invoicing, claims paid, and servicing reimbursements.

• Develop automated tie-outs with alert systems across incoming merchant data, operational databases, the analytics warehouse, accounting systems, and external reporting.

• Manage invoicing logic and programmatic controls that align with contracted commercial terms.

• Oversee financial data models, including contract revenue recognition and claims-cost logic, within the shared dbt repository.

• Review and authorize modifications to financial reporting logic according to platform standards for tests, PR reviews, and change control.

• Collaborate with Merchant Integration and Data Engineering on merchant configuration, mapping audits, and downstream expense and contract attribution.

• Manage exception and reconciliation-break processes, including triage, resolution ownership, root-cause tracking, and detection-latency SLAs.

• Work alongside Revenue/Go-to-Market on merchant escalations, billing inquiries, and deal structuring.

• Coordinate efforts among Solutions Engineering, Product Engineering, Data Engineering, Finance, and Accounting.

• Prepare reporting for obligors, reinsurers, and audits regarding contracts, liabilities, and claims.

• Collaborate with the Controller for review and presentation of reports.

• Assess team requirements and expand the team as necessary.

• Lead a team of individual contributors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in advanced SQL and dimensional data modeling.

• Proven experience in owning, reviewing, and modifying transformation logic behind financial reporting in Snowflake.

• Experience managing financial or analytical models in dbt (or a comparable tool) under version control.

• Background in testing, PR review, CI, and controlled changes of reporting logic.

• Knowledge of Python for data validation or reconciliation tools is advantageous.

• Familiarity with designing order-to-cash systems and automated reconciliation controls on a large scale.

• Extensive expertise in revenue recognition, particularly with multi-year service contracts.

• Capable of documenting and defending technical accounting positions with external auditors.

• In-depth functional knowledge of NetSuite in billing, invoicing, and revenue.

• Understanding of segment and subsidiary attribution and upstream system integrations.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to build alignment across Finance, Accounting, and Engineering partner teams.

• Previous experience leading individual contributors in a technical or analytics engineering role.

• Experience with merchant reconciliation, warranty or service contract programs, or obligor and reinsurer reporting is a plus.
