Director, Executive & Employee Communications

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to senior executives on messaging, positioning, and communication strategies.

• Convert intricate business priorities into compelling narratives for both internal and external audiences.

• Create speeches, presentations, executive emails, talking points, video scripts, Q&A documents, and various other executive materials.

• Prepare leaders for company meetings, customer interactions, media interviews, speaking events, and significant moments.

• Anticipate communication opportunities and risks during business events, organizational changes, and sensitive situations.

• Establish an editorial calendar for executive communications.

• Formulate employee communication strategies that link staff to Empower’s business strategy, priorities, culture, and mission.

• Oversee communications for company-wide town halls, leadership forums, enterprise initiatives, organizational announcements, and employee events.

• Collaborate with senior leaders, Human Resources, and business teams on communications regarding organizational change, transformation, culture, and employee engagement.

• Generate written, digital, video, and live communications and experiences.

• Integrate employee feedback and listening into communication planning.

• Identify and promote stories that highlight employees and their contributions.

• Craft executive thought leadership strategies that align with Empower’s brand and business objectives.

• Work alongside Brand Communications and Corporate Affairs on earned media opportunities.

• Develop strategies and content for executive LinkedIn profiles.

• Seek out speaking opportunities, conferences, podcasts, bylined articles, awards, and other avenues for executive visibility.

• Prepare executives for pertinent industry and customer discussions.

• Discover stories that illustrate customer impact, innovation, business growth, employee contributions, and organizational culture.

• Utilize an editorial and multimedia strategy in communication efforts.

• Define success metrics and leverage data, employee feedback, and audience insights to enhance communication effectiveness.

• Investigate platforms, formats, and AI-driven tools while upholding governance, confidentiality, quality, and authenticity.

• Collaborate across Marketing, Operations, AI and Innovation, Human Resources, Corporate Affairs, Compliance, Legal, and other areas of the business.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in executive, employee, corporate, brand, or strategic communications within complex organizations.

• Proven track record of advising C-suite or senior executives and handling confidential or sensitive communications.

• Extensive experience in developing employee communication and engagement strategies, including enterprise initiatives, organizational change, and large-scale employee events.

• Outstanding writing, editing, and storytelling capabilities across executive messaging, presentations, digital content, and multimedia formats.

• Experience in creating executive thought leadership and supporting speaking engagements, earned media, and executive social media activities.

• Strong business acumen, judgment, executive presence, and the ability to influence across various functions and levels.

• Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple high-profile priorities in a dynamic, highly matrixed environment.

• Interest in emerging technologies, particularly AI, and their potential to enhance communications while maintaining authenticity and human connection.

• Experience in a regulated industry or a highly complex business environment is preferred.

• Proven experience in leading social media strategy and understanding best practices for executive visibility.

• Candidate should be located in the New York or Boston area.

• For remote roles, a reliable high-speed internet connection with wired access and a suitable home office setup are required; connectivity must be through fiber, cable, or DSL.
