Director, Epidemiology – Methodological Innovation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead the development of innovative real-world evidence methodologies, including external control arms, causal inference in high-dimensional datasets, and the integration of longitudinal clinical information with molecular and genomic signatures.

• Supervise comprehensive retrospective database analyses and design study protocols.

• Act as a subject matter expert for biopharma clients, providing guidance on pioneering study designs.

• Contribute to impactful publications and presentations at forums such as ISPOR, ISPE, and ASCO.

• Collaborate with Key Account Directors and Business Development to pinpoint opportunities for novel methodologies.

• Connect Data Science, Biostatistics, and Product teams to develop scalable methods.

• Ensure that innovative research complies with regulatory and ethical standards, including GEP and HIPAA, while delivering high-quality results on time.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD (preferred) or PharmD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.

• Over 7 years of experience in HEOR/RWE.

• Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.

• In-depth expertise in oncology.

• Proven experience in developing or applying advanced methods, including target trial emulation, propensity score applications in complex cohorts, or machine learning-augmented epidemiology.

• Advanced proficiency in R or SAS.

• Experience working with real-world data, such as EHR, claims, and/or genomic data.

• Outstanding ability to distill complex methodological challenges into a clear strategic plan for biopharma executives.

• Demonstrated experience in mentoring junior scientists and leading cross-functional teams in a dynamic, high-growth setting.
