Director, Enterprise Architecture – Engineering

📋 Description

• Develop and implement enterprise architecture strategies, principles, decision-making rights, and reusable reference patterns for Kicksaw's client portfolio.

• Guide intricate architectural decisions and design evaluations, ensuring a balance between business value, security, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Define the integration of Salesforce, Apex, Python, APIs, data, integration, cloud services, and analytics.

• Transform recurring delivery risks into standardized practices and accelerators.

• Establish and promote a unified engineering operating system that includes source control, branching, peer review, automated testing, CI/CD, environment management, release oversight, observability, rollback procedures, and incident learning.

• Implement Kicksaw's production AI and agentic engineering framework.

• Develop reusable AI development patterns for grounding, model access, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.

• Assess Salesforce, integration, data, cloud, and AI technologies based on business alignment and architectural evidence.

• Integrate security, privacy, and compliance considerations into architecture and delivery processes.

• Manage engineers and technical leaders directly, overseeing hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, career development, succession planning, staffing, capacity management, and team well-being.

• Strengthen Principal and Lead-level capabilities and foster capability paths, communities of practice, architecture reviews, and reusable examples.

• Navigate organizational friction and bureaucratic challenges while making trade-offs, exceptions, decisions, and escalation pathways transparent.

• Cultivate trusted relationships with client CIOs, CTOs, enterprise architects, security leaders, data leaders, and platform owners.

• Collaborate with Sales and Delivery teams on qualification, discovery, solution shaping, estimation, technical risk assessment, executive presentations, and commitments.

• Link technical decisions to client outcomes, delivery quality, operating costs, speed, resilience, revenue, margins, pipeline, retention, and account growth.

• Create differentiated offerings, reference architectures, accelerators, and technical perspectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, engineering, or technical consulting, including leadership roles across complex client programs or technical capabilities.

• Salesforce Certified Technical Architect certification is highly desirable.

• Extensive Salesforce architecture and engineering knowledge, encompassing Apex, Lightning, platform limitations, data and sharing designs, integration, security, environments, packaging, and release management.

• Strong engineering proficiency beyond Salesforce, including Python, APIs, events, SQL, JavaScript or TypeScript, testing, automation, and application design patterns.

• Broad enterprise technology knowledge covering Salesforce Data 360/Data Cloud, Informatica, MuleSoft or similar integration platforms, cloud data platforms, and AWS/Azure/GCP services, as well as DevOps and observability.

• Experience with production AI or agentic systems, focusing on grounding, orchestration, evaluation, guardrails, observability, security, cost, human oversight, and lifecycle management.

• Proven experience in designing secure systems in regulated environments and translating obligations like HIPAA, HITRUST, FedRAMP, NIST, SOC 2, and privacy into practical controls.

• Experienced in standardizing CI/CD, automated quality and security controls, environment and release strategies, deployment evidence, rollback processes, and operational feedback across teams.

• Significant experience in people management, leading engineers and technical leaders, developing successors, and enhancing quality without fostering fear or dependency.

• A successful track record of scaling an engineering organization and contributing to business growth through talent management, operating systems, reusable technology, disciplined investment, and delivery-led growth.

• Strong client-facing, executive, and commercial judgment, with the ability to clarify complex trade-offs, make decisions amidst ambiguity and friction, and maintain accountability for outcomes.
