Director, Engineering Architecture and Enablement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and enhance the skills of a team of senior Engineering Solution Architects

• Allocate the architecture team to critical and intricate initiatives

• Supervise the comprehensive solution architecture for significant cross-team projects

• Drive the technical sequencing, dependency planning, and overarching solution design

• Provide guidance on estimates and level-of-effort evaluations with engineering leaders

• Ensure alignment among engineering teams, managers, and stakeholders regarding assumptions, trade-offs, implementation strategies, risks, and constraints

• Maintain involvement throughout execution to clarify uncertainties, facilitate decisions, and ensure initiatives remain on track

• Act as a senior technical authority across projects involving multiple teams, systems, and domains

• Collaborate with leaders in Engineering, Product, and Program Management

• Manage architecture standards, guidelines, and reusable patterns

• Create streamlined architecture review and alignment processes

• Engage in technology planning, organizational strategy, and leadership decision-making as a member of the Technology Leadership Team

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is mandatory

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or technical leadership roles

• Extensive experience in leading intricate technical projects across various teams, systems, and stakeholders

• Experience in managing highly senior technical individual contributors, such as Staff-level engineers or architects

• Strong expertise in solution design, dependency management, technical estimation, and cross-team technical leadership

• Demonstrated capability to influence engineering managers, technical leaders, and teams without direct delivery ownership

• Familiarity with modern software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and engineering delivery practices

• Experience in designing and overseeing high-reliability, cloud-based implementations with a focus on scalability, resilience, performance, and operational excellence

• Experience with AI-driven engineering implementations, including Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools

• Outstanding leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities

• Preferred: experience in leading a formal solution architecture function

• Preferred: experience in supporting major roadmaps, large initiatives, or program increments

• Preferred: experience in complex, matrixed environments

• Preferred: experience in developing architecture standards, technical guidelines, and reusable engineering patterns

• Preferred: experience in regulated environments

• Preferred: familiarity with AWS, React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake
