This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +6 more states.
• Oversee EHS professionals at the corporate level while fostering proactive identification and reduction of environmental, health, and safety hazards.
• Collaborate with the EHS Managing Director, Senior EHS Director, Corporate EHS Directors, Senior Regional EHS Managers, EHS operational teams, and operational leadership.
• Ensure adherence to applicable federal and state EHS regulations.
• Guarantee consistent application of company EHS initiatives.
• Assess risks and implement strategies to prevent injuries and illnesses while ensuring environmental compliance.
• Work alongside operations to create safe and environmentally responsible workplace solutions.
• Formulate and execute corporate EHS policies, programs, and training materials.
• Engage in corporate training and business meetings.
• Prepare facilities for corporate and external audits and address audit findings.
• Lead and participate in corporate audit teams.
• Coordinate medical management and workers’ compensation procedures and protocols.
• Support operations with workers’ compensation claims and cost reduction efforts.
• Guide Senior Regional Managers in team development, management, leadership, and coaching.
• Oversee EHS systems and programs, including EHS databases, risk mitigation, audits, ergonomics/Fit for Work, EHS technologies, SDS approval systems, compliance tracking, fire systems, workers’ compensation, training, and EHS notifications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in environmental, safety, health, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience, including team development and management, is required.
• Capability to make strategic decisions in high-pressure situations, including leading emergency response initiatives.
• Willingness and capability to travel to other locations 50% of the time based on project requirements.
• Proficiency in managing multiple projects and deliverables with focus and efficiency.
• Ability to interpret, design, and effectively communicate key EHS data to internal stakeholders and take action to drive results.
• Competence in planning and executing EHS systems and programs in collaboration with operations.
• In-depth knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations along with workers’ compensation processes.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Effective presentation skills.
• Extensive familiarity with Microsoft Office and EHS database systems such as Cority.
• Experience with PSM/RMP is a plus.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not mandatory.
• Physical ability to perform tasks including frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds, and potentially 70 pounds in more physically demanding roles.
• Capability to stand for up to eight hours daily, especially during site visits or meetings.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain during project-site visits.
