
Director, Cloud Gaming Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Take ownership of the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for cloud gaming infrastructure that includes the Game OS, cloud gaming software stack, telemetry, control plane, and transport.
β’ Lead and expand the engineering organization tasked with building and operating the infrastructure, focusing on hiring technical leaders and individual contributors.
β’ Collaborate with hardware, OS, encoding, capacity planning, and SRE/Ops teams to create a reliable end-to-end platform.
β’ Propel technical and economic innovation to make cloud gaming feasible at scale.
β’ Act as the main technical liaison between Infrastructure, Games Platform, and Games Studio.
β’ Represent the infrastructure's capabilities and limitations in discussions regarding product and studio planning.
β’ Work with peer leaders across Infrastructure and Games Platform teams to ensure coherent and integrated systems.
β’ Establish technical direction and quality standards in a field lacking an established industry playbook.
β’ Make technical decisions in the absence of proven methodologies.
β’ Report on infrastructure health, costs, and scaling risks to senior leadership.
β’ Transform business objectives, such as member growth, engagement, and unit economics, into infrastructure priorities.
β’ Demonstrated experience leading large-scale distributed systems engineering teams, ideally encompassing software, hardware, and network/transport layers.
β’ In-depth technical knowledge in one or more areas: cloud infrastructure at scale, real-time/low-latency media delivery, game development, control planes.
β’ Experience managing infrastructure with significant capital investment, including hardware fleets and data center capacity, and being accountable for its economics.
β’ Proven ability to operate in ambiguous and emerging fields without established best practices, making sound technical decisions under uncertainty.
β’ Strong history of cross-functional collaboration with Product, Data Science, and related Engineering organizations.
β’ Ability to influence without direct authority across dotted-line and peer relationships.
β’ Experience in managing and developing engineering managers and senior individual contributors.
β’ Judicious in growing a team while enhancing individual capabilities with AI tools.
β’ Excellent communication skills for conveying complex infrastructure trade-offs to technical colleagues and senior/executive stakeholders.
β’ Previous experience in console gaming, cloud gaming, game streaming, or interactive real-time media is preferred.
β’ Background in a company that has developed a large-scale gaming or media-streaming platform is preferred.
β’ Experience establishing or significantly scaling a new platform or product line is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with CDN or edge infrastructure economics, capacity planning, and fleet-level cost optimization is preferred.
β’ Experience linking infrastructure investment choices to broader strategic growth initiatives is preferred.
