This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Optimize the long-term safety, reliability, performance, compliance, and financial returns of Lydian’s operational renewable energy assets.
• Supervise the management of third-party O&M providers, focusing on operating performance, revenue enhancement, cost management, NERC/FERC compliance, transitions from construction to operations, warranty and insurance claims, lifecycle planning, and stakeholder reporting.
• Act as Lydian’s owner-level operating authority while maintaining accountability for contractor performance, ensuring safe and reliable operations, achieving 98% portfolio availability, managing operating budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, fulfilling contractual obligations, and preserving long-term asset value.
• Monitor energy production, availability, performance ratios, capacity, round-trip efficiency, degradation, state-of-health, throughput, and other related portfolio metrics.
• Manage relationships with O&M providers, ensuring SLA enforcement, contract adherence, staffing efficiency, response times, reporting accuracy, and contractor performance evaluations.
• Lead planning for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, coordinate outages, conduct root-cause investigations, and implement reliability programs and corrective-action plans.
• Utilize remote monitoring and SCADA-based performance analytics to identify and address underperformance issues.
• Oversee strategies for spare parts, critical inventories, work-order performance, and long-term reliability planning.
• Guide the development of the annual O&M budget and initiatives aimed at cost control.
• Ensure compliance with PPAs, tolling agreements, interconnection arrangements, utility contracts, and other operational agreements, including metering, billing, and settlement processes.
• Manage operating expense budgets, forecasts, major maintenance plans, expenditure tracking, variance analysis, and any necessary corrective actions.
• Prepare reporting packages for lenders, tax equity partners, investors, and offtakers.
• Ensure adherence to lender covenants, insurance obligations, reserve account management, operating budgets, and certifications.
• Supervise warranty management, insurance claims, reserve planning, diligence requests, lender assessments, inspections, and audits.
• Oversee the transition from construction to operations, manage O&M mobilization, maintain records of transition exceptions, and conduct 30/60/90-day post-COD stabilization reviews.
• Lead lifecycle planning for battery augmentation, repowering, equipment upgrades, controls modernization, and life-extension projects.
• Manage relationships with landowners, including land-related payments, decommissioning planning, and security obligations.
• Assist in M&A due diligence for potential acquisitions and divestitures.
• Ensure compliance with NERC standards, FERC reporting requirements, utility tariffs, ISO/RTO regulations, interconnection agreements, permits, and contracts.
• Establish compliance calendars, evidence requirements, internal controls, audit readiness, and escalation protocols.
• Coordinate with compliance consultants and collaborate with Legal, Engineering, IT/OT, O&M providers, utilities, balancing authorities, and market participants.
• Manage property tax assessment appeals and compliance with real estate obligations.
• Ensure environmental compliance, encompassing SPCC, stormwater management, wildlife commitments, waste management, inspections, reporting, and corrective actions.
• Direct asset management systems, CMMS, performance databases, operating dashboards, and reporting platforms.
• Maintain data integrity across metering, SCADA, EMS, PPC, historians, maintenance, settlement, and financial reporting systems.
• Set standards for asset hierarchies, outage codes, equipment records, performance calculations, warranty data, and document retention policies.
• Promote the use of predictive analytics and machine learning for forecasting, anomaly detection, degradation analysis, and maintenance optimization.
• Collaborate with IT/OT and cybersecurity teams regarding remote access, communication processes, software modifications, data retention, and incident responses.
• Report directly to the Vice President of Asset Management.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in renewable energy operations, asset management, utility operations, power generation, or power project management.
• At least 3 years in a senior asset management or operating leadership position with direct responsibility for operating portfolios greater than 500 MW.
• Proven experience in managing third-party O&M providers, fulfilling service-level agreements, overseeing operating budgets, and project-level financial reporting.
• Direct experience with project finance structures, lender reporting obligations, lender covenants, reserve accounts, and requirements for tax equity partnerships.
• Experience in managing utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) assets, warranties, insurance claims, major maintenance, and transitions from construction to operations.
• Background in NERC compliance and utility-scale generation operations.
• Experience managing portfolios across multiple ISO/RTO or utility markets, including ERCOT and one or more of SPP, CAISO, PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISO-New England, PacifiCorp, or WECC.
• In-depth knowledge of solar PV and BESS performance metrics, degradation modeling, operational benchmarking, battery cycling, state of health, throughput, efficiency, and augmentation planning.
• Expertise in power market operations, ISO settlement processes, ancillary-service markets, merchant BESS operations, and contractual performance obligations.
• Working knowledge of SCADA, EMS, PPC, computerized maintenance management systems, and asset management platforms such as PowerFactors, Greenbyte, or Locus Energy, along with PI historians.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, budget development, cost forecasting, reserve planning, variance analysis, and reporting on operating performance.
• Ability to interpret O&M agreements, warranties, financing documents, PPAs, tolling agreements, interconnection agreements, and regulatory requirements.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
• Strong safety leadership skills and ownership-level accountability for ensuring reliable operations.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of the relationship between technical performance and financial outcomes.
• Exceptional stakeholder management abilities with lenders, investors, offtakers, utilities, O&M providers, OEMs, regulators, landowners, and project partners.
• An analytical and data-driven approach to assessing portfolio performance, managing risk, and making decisions.
• Collaborative skills to work effectively with Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Commercial, Legal, IT/OT, and Safety teams.
• Capability to establish scalable processes and systems to support a rapidly expanding national portfolio.
