Director, AI Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to create AI-driven products

• Supervise the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components, encompassing foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability

• Decide between building and purchasing solutions across open-source and SaaS AI technologies

• Innovate and implement cutting-edge LLM optimization techniques to enhance scalability, cost efficiency, latency, and throughput of extensive production AI systems

• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term strategy for foundational AI systems

• Attract and retain AI talent while fostering the personal and professional growth of team members

• Mentor and guide team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and awareness of advancements in AI

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI with a minimum of 8 years of experience in developing or leading AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree with at least 6 years of such experience

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in people leadership

• Preferred: 5 years of experience in managing and leading an engineering team

• Preferred: 7 years of experience in deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud

• Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field

• A strong passion for remaining updated on the latest AI research and systems while applying innovative techniques in production

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex AI concepts to peers

• Solid foundation in engineering and mathematics

• Proficiency in hardware, software, and AI
