Associate Software Developer – AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design, test, and maintain backend services that support AI assistants.

• Assist in integrating large language models, enterprise data, APIs, and workflow automation into products aimed at customers.

• Contribute to features such as conversation summaries, knowledge assistance, suggested responses, search capabilities, task automation, and agent guidance.

• Create and sustain REST APIs and integrations with both internal and external systems.

• Facilitate validation, monitoring, fallback, and human-review processes for AI-driven features.

• Produce code that is readable, maintainable, and testable, adhering to engineering standards.

• Engage in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and technical discussions with seasoned engineers.

• Work collaboratively with product, UX, data, security, QA, and platform teams to develop and launch features.

• Investigate and resolve issues across backend services, APIs, databases, and integrations.

• Continue to enhance knowledge of backend engineering, cloud technology, and applied AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related area, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Solid understanding of one or more backend programming languages and their respective frameworks.

• Basic knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, and software design principles.

• Some experience in developing or utilizing REST APIs.

• Understanding of relational databases and SQL; experience with Microsoft SQL Server is advantageous.

• Familiarity with testing and source control tools like Git, as well as collaborative software development practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a readiness to ask questions and learn from feedback.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• A keen interest in AI assistants, large language models, conversational AI, or workflow automation.

• Some exposure to LLM APIs, prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, or vector search through professional, academic, or personal projects would be beneficial.

• Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, and a framework like React or Angular would be an asset.

• Experience with Agile development, CI/CD, cloud platforms, or DevOps practices would also be advantageous.
