This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, maintain, and improve responsive websites and web applications for Military OneSource.
• Set up, customize, and manage WordPress websites, including themes, templates, plugins, and reusable components.
• Create custom website features utilizing PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and other relevant web technologies.
• Convert UX/UI designs, content needs, and interaction specifications into responsive and accessible front-end solutions.
• Provide support for enterprise content management systems and database-driven web applications.
• Diagnose website defects, malfunctioning features, display problems, integration issues, and production incidents; conduct root-cause analysis and execute corrective measures.
• Collaborate with UX specialists, designers, content strategists, publishers, and product owners to enhance the Military OneSource digital experience.
• Assist in managing content structures, templates, navigation, search functionalities, publishing workflows, and content presentation.
• Create reusable components that promote visual consistency, usability, accessibility, and efficient content publishing.
• Aid in website modernization, redesign, migration, and platform enhancement projects.
• Utilize website analytics, user feedback, accessibility evaluations, and quality findings to suggest improvements.
• Develop websites and applications in compliance with Section 508, WCAG, and WAI-ARIA standards.
• Conduct validation using keyboard, screen-reader, and assistive technologies.
• Implement manual and automated accessibility testing tools to identify, document, and resolve issues.
• Engage in peer reviews, code reviews, functional testing, usability assessments, and production validations.
• Build and maintain integrations between websites, RESTful APIs, databases, analytics platforms, and third-party services.
• Support authentication, search functions, forms, data exchange, and other integrated website capabilities.
• Collaborate with back-end developers, architects, cybersecurity experts, and DevSecOps engineers to address technical challenges.
• Facilitate Git-based source control, development workflows, build tooling, deployment processes, and configuration management.
• Assist with website monitoring, performance enhancement, reliability, and production support.
• Implement secure web development practices and assist in identifying, remediating, validating, and releasing vulnerabilities.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity teams on RMF, Zero Trust, NIST SP 800-53, privacy, CUI, and Authority to Operate requirements.
• Keep technical documentation for application sustainability, security reviews, and knowledge transfer up to date.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
• Work alongside Government stakeholders, product owners, business analysts, content teams, UX specialists, designers, architects, testers, and operations personnel.
• Collect and clarify requirements, identify implementation alternatives, and provide effort estimates.
• Convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Deliver implementation documentation, status updates, issue reports, and knowledge transfer while working independently within a multidisciplinary Agile team.
• Must possess an active Secret clearance or higher.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Web Development, Digital Media, or a related field; equivalent relevant education, certifications, and professional experience may be accepted.
• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in website, front-end, or web application development.
• Proven experience in developing, maintaining, and supporting production WordPress websites.
• Proficient in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience in translating UX/UI designs and business requirements into responsive, component-based web interfaces.
• Skilled in developing or customizing WordPress themes, templates, plugins, and website functionalities.
• Adept at supporting enterprise content management systems and content publishing workflows.
• Experience integrating websites with RESTful APIs, databases, third-party systems, or dynamic data services.
• Knowledgeable in responsive web design, cross-browser compatibility, and accessible development practices.
• Familiar with Section 508 and WCAG requirements.
• Experienced in troubleshooting complex website issues, investigating defects, and providing production support.
• Proficient in using Git or another source-control platform and working within Agile or Scrum teams.
• Ability to gather requirements and effectively communicate implementation options, risks, and recommended solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• CompTIA Security+ certification is preferred.
• IAAP accessibility certification (CPACC, WAS, or CPWA) and/or DHS Trusted Tester certification is preferred.
• Experience with Federal, DoD, or other regulated digital platforms and large-scale public-facing websites is preferred.
• Familiarity with WordPress development in a Linux or LAMP environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of Sass, NPM, Grunt, Gulp, or similar front-end build tools is preferred.
• Experience with accessibility tools such as ANDI, axe, Lighthouse, or similar testing solutions is preferred.
• Experienced in screen-reader, keyboard-only, and assistive technology testing is preferred.
• Familiarity with developing search functionalities, analytics integrations, interactive forms, calculators, or other custom features is preferred.
• Experience with Angular, React, Vue.js, or TypeScript frameworks is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of C#, .NET, Java, SQL, JSON, or other supporting application technologies is preferred.
• Experience with AWS-hosted websites, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment automation, or DevSecOps delivery is preferred.
• Familiarity with Drupal or other enterprise content management platforms is preferred.
• Experience supporting website modernization, CMS migration, redesign, or platform upgrade initiatives is preferred.
• Knowledge of UX/UI collaboration, information architecture, visual design, SEO, analytics, or user-centered design is preferred.
• Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish are beneficial.
