Digital Court Reporter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Capture and oversee legal proceedings, encompassing examinations for discovery, arbitrations, hearings, and various legal events.

• Ensure audio quality is maintained throughout proceedings for a clear and precise record.

• Keep detailed notes and annotations during legal proceedings.

• Collaborate professionally with lawyers, adjudicators, judges, clients, and other legal professionals.

• Uphold strict confidentiality at all times.

• Complete proficiency assessments prior to accepting assignments.

• Offer services as an independent contractor and manage availability for assignments.

• Undertake remote or onsite assignments, generally Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with potential opportunities outside these hours.

• May provide transcription services and other related tasks based on outstanding performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of two years of digital court reporting, court reporting, legal support, or a related field is preferred.

• Applicants with transferable skills and a proven track record of success are encouraged to apply.

• Those with less than two years of digital court reporting experience must complete the Digital Court Reporter Training Program.

• Must successfully pass proficiency assessments before accepting assignments.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required.

• Strong listening and concentration skills are essential.

• Excellent written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

• Strong reading comprehension and information-processing abilities.

• Proficient keyboarding and computer skills are necessary.

• Present a professional demeanor and appearance.

• Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced or high-pressure environments.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills are important.

• Capable of working independently and reliably.

• Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

• Fluency in written and spoken English and/or French is required.

• Must provide proof of eligibility to work in Canada.

• A background check is mandatory.
