DevSecOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain the cloud infrastructure that supports the VA.gov Platform.

• Create reusable infrastructure modules, libraries, and automation tools for various engineering teams.

• Enhance platform scalability, resilience, reliability, and operational efficiency.

• Contribute to internal platform features that enhance the developer experience.

• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Terragrunt).

• Construct and uphold automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Jenkins, or comparable technologies.

• Engage in business-hours support rotation and fulfill production on-call duties.

• Diagnose issues within production infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, deployment failures, and cloud services.

• Develop infrastructure that meets security, availability, and performance standards.

• Collaborate with security engineers to enhance the platform’s security posture.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Required).

• Capability to obtain and uphold a Public Trust clearance.

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• 3-5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer.

• Hands-on experience in production environments with AWS as the primary cloud provider.

• Proficiency in deploying and managing Kubernetes (Amazon EKS or equivalent).

• Strong expertise in Terraform (Terragrunt preferred).

• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms.

• Solid Linux systems administration and shell scripting experience.

• Working understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, TLS, load balancing, reverse proxies, and container networking.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience diagnosing issues in production infrastructure and distributed systems.

• History of participating in production support and on-call rotations.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and government stakeholders.
