This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Guide and expand a team of 4–8 DevOps engineers.
• Take responsibility for squad delivery commitments, code and infrastructure quality, and manage on-call rotations.
• Engage directly with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability.
• Conduct 1:1 meetings, write performance evaluations, and support career development.
• Recruit and onboard new engineering talent.
• Handle squad-level incidents and post-mortem analyses, escalating issues proactively.
• Align squad activities with business OKRs/KPIs and represent the team in planning and cross-team synchronization.
• Foster a culture of psychological safety and accountability.
• Eliminate blockers related to processes, tools, and technical debt.
• Optimize cloud expenditure.
• Balance the speed of delivery with regulatory requirements such as CNBV and Condusef.
• Effectively communicate risks, trade-offs, priorities, and feedback to team members, peers, stakeholders, and leadership.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in DevOps, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering with production ownership.
• Previous formal or informal leadership experience, including hiring, mentoring, or incident management.
• Proven track record of managing delivery for a team.
• Comfortable spending 40–60% of time in hands-on work while also managing people.
• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
• Extensive knowledge of CI/CD systems and contemporary delivery methodologies, including trunk-based development, feature flags, and incremental rollouts.
• Practical experience with AWS services, including Fargate, ECS, EC2, RDS/Postgres, ElastiCache, Lambda, SQS, and Kinesis.
• Familiarity with observability tools, preferably Datadog.
• Experience in scripting/automation using Python, Bash, or Node.js/TypeScript.
• Understanding of cloud security, secret management, and compliance standards.
• Experience conducting 1:1s, providing structured feedback, and writing performance reviews.
• Ability to hire, onboard engineers, and support career growth from E1 to E3 levels.
• Capable of making personnel decisions with fairness and empathy.
• Strong communication skills in Spanish, with working proficiency in English for vendor and partner interactions.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities.
• Agile mindset with a focus on workflow efficiency.

• Familiarity with GCP services, MongoDB Atlas or other managed databases, regulated fintech environments, on-call and incident response processes, and DORA metrics is a plus.
