DevOps Engineer, Python, Bash

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Maintain Perl, Ruby, and Shell scripts for deployment, configuration, backups/restores, high availability, and administrative functions.

• Strategically plan and carry out the migration of administrative scripts from Perl to Python or Ruby.

• Oversee OS and software updates, ensure system hardening, and maintain compliance with industry frameworks.

• Manage and create kickstarts for the installation of the Rocky Linux-based solutions.

• Administer and support Jenkins CI/CD pipelines along with build automation processes.

• Automate the backup/restoration, deployment, and upgrade processes for PostgreSQL databases.

• Assist the support team in swiftly resolving customer issues.

• Maintain and support on-premises infrastructure, encompassing server room equipment, physical and virtual servers, storage, and networking systems.

• Aid in the transition of solutions to containerized environments.

• Provide mentorship to others.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of scripting experience with Bash and any of Perl, Python, or Ruby.

• In-depth understanding of Linux operating systems, particularly Rocky Linux / Red Hat.

• Experience with RPM packaging and deployment processes.

• Familiarity with operating system configuration, tuning, and hardening practices.

• Experience in creating kickstarts or similar technologies for system installation.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.

• Capable of troubleshooting operating system issues, configuration problems, authentication errors, and related software defects.

• A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Ability to lead a small team effectively.

• Knowledge or experience with containerization technologies, including Docker / Kubernetes.

• Understanding of networking concepts, including IP, DNS, routing, and firewalls.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, Nutanix, and Hyper-V.

• Knowledge of LDAP and Active Directory.

• Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance job functions.

• Knowledge of cryptography technologies and the management of certificates.

• Proficient in database management, preferably with PostgreSQL.

• Must utilize only company-approved AI tools and adhere to the documented company AI usage policy.
