This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and maintain cloud infrastructure that supports the VA.gov Platform.
• Create reusable infrastructure modules, libraries, and automation for various engineering teams.
• Enhance platform scalability, resilience, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
• Contribute to internal platform functionalities that elevate the developer experience.
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Terragrunt).
• Construct and uphold automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Jenkins, or comparable technologies.
• Engage in business-hours support rotation and take on production on-call duties.
• Diagnose issues related to production infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, deployment failures, and cloud services.
• Develop infrastructure that adheres to security, availability, and performance standards.
• Collaborate with security engineers to enhance the platform's security posture.
• Capability to obtain and sustain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• A decade of experience as a DevOps Engineer.
• Hands-on experience in production environments with AWS as the primary cloud provider.
• Proficiency in deploying and managing Kubernetes (Amazon EKS or an equivalent service).
• Strong expertise in Terraform (Terragrunt is preferred).
• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
• Extensive experience in Linux systems administration and shell scripting.
• Fundamental understanding of networking principles, including DNS, TLS, load balancing, reverse proxies, and container networking.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proven troubleshooting skills in production infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Background in participating in production support and on-call rotations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and government stakeholders.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
