DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Construct, oversee, and resolve issues related to Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications across various cloud platforms, including AWS EKS and RKE2.

• Create and manage Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform, Pulumi, or comparable technologies.

• Develop, oversee, and enhance CI/CD pipelines, especially GitLab CI and automated deployment processes.

• Manage AWS infrastructure, encompassing EC2, EKS, IAM, S3, and VPC services.

• Assist with identity and access management through Keycloak or similar solutions.

• Implement and uphold monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability frameworks.

• Oversee certificate lifecycle management, including renewals and automation processes.

• Support container security, compliance with Iron Bank image standards, ATO/C-ATO procedures, and overall platform protection.

• Diagnose deployment failures, malfunctioning pipelines, infrastructure challenges, and application integration issues.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, ADRs, architecture standards, and operational guidelines.

• Engage in Tier 2 on-call rotations and assist with platform incidents.

• Work collaboratively with application and engineering teams to establish DevOps and platform best practices.

• Guide junior engineers through code reviews, collaborative work, and knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with Kubernetes, including the deployment, management, and troubleshooting of clusters and workloads.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent.

• Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitLab CI or similar platforms.

• In-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and command-line utilities.

• Experience with AWS cloud services, ideally EC2, EKS, IAM, S3, and VPC.

• Proficient in Docker, container image creation, and container registries.

• Strong capability to work with YAML for Kubernetes manifests, CRDs, Helm charts, and pipeline configurations.

• Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.

• Must meet eligibility criteria for CUI access.

• Possess or be capable of obtaining DoD 8570 IAT II certification, such as Security+ CE.

• Active Secret security clearance preferred.

• Experience with UDS Core, Iron Bank, and C-ATO/ATO processes is preferred.

• Familiarity with Keycloak or similar IAM platforms is preferred.

• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar monitoring and observability tools is preferred.

• Proficient in Go, Python, or Bash scripting is preferred.

• Background in a DevSecOps environment, focusing on secure coding and vulnerability remediation is preferred.

• Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux is preferred.

• Previous DoD experience, especially in supporting production ATO'd systems, is preferred.

• Familiarity with distributed architecture and everything-as-code methodologies is preferred.

• AWS certification related to platform or solutions architecture is preferred.

• Experience in developing architecture decision records, operational runbooks, and engineering standards is preferred.
