DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pakistan.

📋 Description

• Take charge of daily operations, support, and ongoing enhancement of AWS infrastructure in both production and non-production settings.

• Manage and resolve issues in Amazon RDS environments that support Microsoft SQL Server workloads, focusing on availability, connectivity, backups, maintenance, and performance coordination.

• Provision, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Amazon EC2 Windows instances along with Windows Server operating systems.

• Oversee Windows domain controller services, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS dependencies, access control, and overall domain health.

• Collaborate with engineering and database stakeholders to maintain Windows SQL Server environments.

• Manage AWS AMIs and the image lifecycle processes to ensure consistent and secure server provisioning and recovery.

• Plan, test, execute, and document the patching process for Windows servers and related platform components.

• Configure and support Amazon SQS and Amazon SNS integrations for application messaging and notifications.

• Administer Route 53 DNS records, hosted zones, and routing configurations.

• Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot Application Load Balancers, target groups, health checks, certificates, and traffic routing.

• Ensure secure networking and connectivity across AWS services, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing, and private service access.

• Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and availability; proactively identify trends and address potential risks.

• Engage in incident response, root cause analysis, remediation planning, and validation of follow-up actions.

• Create and maintain operational runbooks, architecture documentation, recovery procedures, and support guides.

• Collaborate with software engineers and QA teams to enhance deployment reliability, environmental consistency, and release readiness.

• Automate repetitive operational tasks to minimize configuration drift.

• Support backup, restore, disaster recovery, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure security initiatives.

• Assist in achieving cloud cost visibility and responsible resource utilization.

• Work collaboratively with distributed teams and provide scheduled maintenance or incident support outside of standard business hours as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or site reliability engineering.

• More than 4 years of practical experience administering and supporting production AWS environments.

• Extensive production experience with Amazon RDS, EC2, SQS, SNS, Route 53, Application Load Balancers, VPC networking, security groups, and AMI lifecycle management.

• Over 5 years of experience in Windows Server administration, encompassing patching, troubleshooting, services, permissions, performance tuning, event logs, and system recovery.

• Strong background in administering Windows Active Directory, Group Policy, domain controllers, DNS, and identity management within enterprise settings.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure, focusing on backups, maintenance, performance troubleshooting, and high-availability considerations.

• Experience in supporting high-availability SaaS platforms with responsibilities for uptime, scalability, security, and operational excellence.

• Advanced troubleshooting capabilities across infrastructure, operating systems, databases, networking, application layers, and cloud services.

• Demonstrated experience with monitoring, alerting, incident response, change management, root cause analysis, and implementing long-term corrective actions.

• Experience in designing and implementing automation solutions using scripting, infrastructure-as-code, or configuration management tools.

• Proven track record in leading production incidents and coordinating cross-functional response efforts.

• Familiarity with evaluating, implementing, and maintaining cloud security, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies.

• Ability to create technical documentation, operational runbooks, architectural diagrams, and implementation plans.

• Strong communication skills and the capability to collaborate across engineering, product, security, and business teams.

• Capacity to work independently, prioritize competing initiatives, make informed technical decisions, and take ownership through to resolution.

• Experience mentoring engineers, establishing operational standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives is highly preferred.

• Experience with PCI DSS compliance requirements, AWS Well-Architected Framework reviews, infrastructure monitoring and observability, acquisition-related migrations, tenant consolidations, enterprise integrations, and Azure DevOps Pipelines is preferred.

• AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification is preferred.
