Development Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire.

📋 Description

• Oversee the engineering team's adherence to the cadence required for fulfilling roadmap commitments established by the Lead Product Manager.

• Take ownership of engineering scorecard metrics related to quality and delivery.

• Directly manage all engineering personnel, including pod tech leads, focusing on performance, career growth, recruitment, and daily support.

• Assign meaningful roles and responsibilities through talent and capability mapping.

• Manage engineering capacity planning and convert roadmap commitments into achievable delivery plans.

• Ensure release reliability and production quality across both engineering pods.

• Engage in engineering planning during every cadence.

• Lead the integration of AI development best practices in collaboration with the Technical Architect.

• Support and enhance the existing Rails-based product while prioritizing technical sustainability and delivery costs.

• Collaborate with the Lead Product Manager and technical leads on cross-functional delivery planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in managing engineering teams, engineering managers, or senior individual contributors, preferably in a Ruby on Rails setting.

• Proven track record of owning delivery commitments and ensuring release quality for an active SaaS product.

• Experience in managing geographically distributed or multi-site engineering teams.

• Ability to critically assess the technical judgment and contributions of senior or staff-level engineers.

• Proficient in establishing and enforcing technical and process guidelines for AI-assisted software development.

• Experience conducting structured capability assessments is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence is essential.
