This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the migration from VB6 to Blazor, initially collaborating with the delivery partner and subsequently serving as the primary in-house engineer.

• Identify and resolve production issues to stabilize the application.

• Develop new features and improvements across estimating, pricing, purchasing, jobs, sales, and reporting.

• Work within the C#/Blazor Server codebase and the hand-written ADO.NET data layer against an existing SQL Server schema.

• Write and optimize SQL to precisely match the behavior of the legacy product.

• Manage build and release processes through Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, including deployments to IIS on Windows/EC2.

• Maintain and enhance authentication using AWS Cognito.

• Collaborate with the Product Owner on priorities and with the Senior Developer on domain and legacy behaviors.

• Ramp up alongside the delivery partner and Senior Developer, gaining knowledge of the codebase, data model, and domain.

• Address bugs and implement small enhancements during the initial ramp-up period.

• Assume the role of the HomeFront web application developer as the partnership engagement concludes.

• Oversee ongoing support and the enhancement roadmap, focusing on quality improvement and timely delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6–10 years of experience in enterprise software development.

• Strong and current expertise in modern .NET and C#.

• Practical experience with Blazor (Server model / stateful SignalR circuits).

• Proficient in SQL Server, including writing and tuning T-SQL directly rather than solely through an ORM.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience implementing or integrating AWS Cognito or similar OIDC/identity platforms.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be given significant consideration.

• AWS certification(s) are strongly preferred.

• Previous experience leading or participating in a legacy modernization or rewrite initiative is preferred.

• Comfortable working with a hand-rolled data-access layer (without ORM).

• Strong discipline in testing and code quality, including unit/integration testing and thorough code reviews.

• Experience in fields such as construction, estimating, or other complex line-of-business domains.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.

• Inquisitive and adaptable, comfortable learning unfamiliar systems.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Ability to work autonomously as the sole web engineer.

• Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
