This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Engage in mechanical design and computer-aided modeling of space hardware, encompassing detailed design definition of components and assemblies, as well as managing mechanical interfaces among subsystems.
• Execute structural, mechanical system, and satellite payload equipment layout studies to identify the optimal system architecture, emphasizing simplicity, performance, mass, and cost efficiency.
• Create and sustain mechanical and structural design documentation, which includes mechanical analysis reports, interface control drawings, tooling and fixturing, and manufacturing documentation.
• Assist in the development of test procedures for vibration, shock, thermal vacuum (TVAC), and assembly qualification.
• Prepare and deliver presentations for design and readiness reviews with management and colleagues.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to relay information and document efficient processes.
• Assess and advocate for the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
• A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 12 years of practical experience in mechanical design, integration, and testing of spacecraft and spacecraft components.
• Proficient technical skills in satellite assembly design suitable for launch and on-orbit environments, along with knowledge of design for manufacturability.
• Familiarity with standard analytical tools and classical structural analysis techniques for sizing and trade studies.
• Knowledge of or experience with launch vehicle integration.
• Experience working in a Windchill PLM environment.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX is preferred; familiarity with CATIA, SolidWorks, or CREO will also be considered.
• An innovative and creative approach to problem-solving.
• Capability to function in a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Ability to lead a small team while independently executing assignments.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Capacity to work in a standard office setting and utilize a computer for extended durations.
• Willingness to travel between 25% and 50% of the time.
