This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee daily design and development operations for new store construction, renovations, and other capital projects.
• Manage all aspects of projects from initial planning and development to scheduling, final entitlements, and construction documentation.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Lead and nurture teams, including those located outside the United States.
• Maintain and manage prototype designs, equipment specifications, and fuel system layouts.
• Create facility design concepts that yield long-term advantages and enhance return on investment.
• Allocate both internal and external resources, supervising the workflows of the design and development teams.
• Manage the initial scope of projects, contract documentation, scheduling, and collaboration with multifunctional teams through to project turnover.
• Provide design and development assistance to bp, Amoco, Thorntons, ampm/ARCO, and TA brands and channels.
• Oversee critical-path design and development strategies for site development, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local municipal regulations.
• Work alongside Real Estate Managers to prioritize projects and complete tasks in the real estate pipeline.
• Conduct needs assessments and evaluate, select, and prototype equipment and design solutions.
• Collaborate with associates, consultants, and technical experts to develop and assess project designs.
• Ensure that designs align with accepted standards and bp safety protocols.
• Develop and uphold brand prototype standards for civil, structural, MEP, petroleum systems, interior and exterior elevations, and responsibility matrices.
• Identify issues related to design, permitting, utilities, signage, landscaping, and construction.
• Assist construction teams in resolving issues and managing costs.
• Prepare precise bid construction documents.
• Develop and manage third-party consultants using metrics and tracking systems.
• Support cost analysis and estimating efforts.
• Encourage team member growth, development, and training.
• Participate in or lead design and development committees.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of professional experience in commercial design and development, particularly in retail.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing, proactive teams to meet business goals and foster continuous improvement.
• Strong project management and analytical capabilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for all organizational levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general project management software tools.
• Willingness to travel up to 30–50% as required by the role.
• Licensed Architect or Engineer is preferred.
• Experience in convenience stores or petroleum sectors is preferred.
• Background in commercial construction is preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Revit software is preferred.
