Design Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Oversee external design consultants, including architects, engineers, and specialty contractors, from the appointment stage through to construction administration.

• Ensure that design deliverables comply with client branding, functional requirements, and sustainability objectives.

• Conduct design reviews at critical milestones to ensure alignment with project briefs and technical specifications.

• Promote value engineering while preserving design integrity and quality.

• Provide early notifications regarding potential design schedule delays and implement strategies for mitigation.

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, project managers, and design teams to address technical challenges.

• Manage documentation for permit applications and regulatory submissions.

• Advocate for client interests during design meetings.

• Create and present architectural briefs based on business and stakeholder requirements.

• Oversee design consultant outputs to ensure accuracy, transparency, and accessibility.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.F.A.) in Interior Design from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation program, or a Bachelor’s (B.A.) or Master’s (M.A.) in Architecture from an accredited architectural program.

• 1 to 5 years of experience in commercial project design, construction, or project management.

• Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret complex business and technical documents.

• Proficient in Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit.

• Advanced knowledge of financial terminology and principles, including budget analysis and project cost tracking.

• Skilled in making effective and persuasive presentations to clients, management, and project teams.

• Capable of negotiating successfully with external consultants and internal stakeholder groups.

• Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and industry-standard procurement processes.

• Ability to make informed decisions based on a thorough understanding of company policies and business practices.
