Design and Product Development Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the entire design and product development process, setting a creative vision that aligns with brand identity and business goals.

• Generate and refine new collections, product lines, designs, and seasonal themes from the initial concept to final production.

• Foster innovative techniques in embroidery and hand embroidery.

• Create embroidery concepts, motifs, patterns, textures, placements, and methods for various products and collections.

• Collaborate with artisans, embroidery teams, craftsmen, and production partners to bring design concepts to fruition.

• Assess samples, prototypes, embellishments, fabrics, trims, and embroidery techniques against design and quality standards.

• Provide guidance on detailed design specifications, product concepts, color narratives, material choices, and development samples.

• Conduct research on fashion, design, textiles, embroidery, and consumer trends.

• Partner with merchandising, sourcing, production, and business teams to ensure commercially viable and timely product delivery.

• Set design standards, product development methodologies, and quality benchmarks.

• Mentor and lead design and product development teams effectively.

• Handle multiple product development initiatives while ensuring high execution quality.

• Review prototypes and offer feedback on fit, finish, craftsmanship, aesthetics, and functionality.

• Collaborate with vendors and external craftsmen to develop specialized techniques and ensure production consistency.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience.

• Extensive expertise in design.

• In-depth knowledge of embroidery and hand embroidery.

• Proven experience in product design and development.

• Familiarity with fabrics, textiles, embellishments, and surface techniques.

• Strong grasp of design principles, color theory, proportion, texture, and detailing.

• Capability to take a concept from ideation to sampling and production.

• Excellent creative leadership and team management abilities.

• Comprehensive understanding of quality standards and product execution.

• Advanced knowledge of hand embroidery techniques.

• Experience collaborating with skilled artisans and traditional craftsmanship.

• Background in fashion, luxury, apparel, textiles, lifestyle, or related product sectors.

• Awareness of current design and consumer trends.

• Experience in developing premium or intricately detailed products.
