Deputy Director, Integrated Organizing Communications

📋 Description

• Lead the development and implementation of worker-focused communications and digital strategies for key campaigns.

• Coordinate narrative and messaging, including impactful days of action, across the Narrative and Engagement Department and the Organizing Hub.

• Build and manage the union’s organizing campaigns.

• Oversee Organizing Assistant Directors and other campaign personnel.

• Supervise consultants, as necessary.

• Develop and distribute communications strategies, messaging, and materials to Organizing Hub deputies and campaign staff.

• Foster engagement among workers and stakeholders while raising awareness of SEIU’s organizing objectives.

• Coordinate strategic communications initiatives and set goals to convey a unified narrative.

• Plan, budget, and oversee projects across divisions, departments, and campaign leaders.

• Enhance staff capabilities through training, constructive feedback, performance reviews, skills development, and career advancement.

• Collaborate with International Union staff, campaign personnel, local leaders and members, nonunion workers, and community partners.

• Represent the International Union with independent judgment and professionalism.

• Manage multiple high-priority projects concurrently while adhering to deadlines.

• Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the International Union.


⛳️ Requirements

• Seven to eight years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Familiarity with unions and other advocacy organizations is preferred.

• Preference will be given to candidates with practical communications and organizing experience, regardless of formal education.

• Must be willing to travel frequently, including overnight stays.

• Must be capable of working long and irregular hours.

• Ability to operate in an office, field, or other environments as needed.
