DBA Analyst, Sybase

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee, monitor, and provide support for Sybase ASE and Sybase IQ environments.

• Manage and supervise replication setups utilizing Sybase Replication Server.

• Conduct performance analysis and optimization (tuning) for databases, queries, and stored procedures.

• Identify, assess, and address incidents within production environments.

• Carry out maintenance tasks, upgrades, patching, and version updates.

• Handle backups, restorations, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.

• Monitor database resources to pinpoint bottlenecks in CPU, memory, disk, connection, and transaction performance.

• Administer Solaris and Linux operating systems, including log, process, and resource analysis and troubleshooting.

• Create and maintain scripts for automating operational tasks.

• Engage in maintenance windows, deployments, and change management processes (GMUD).

• Take part in on-call rotations and address critical incidents as needed.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, systems, and development teams to maintain environmental stability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in administering Sybase ASE.

• Extensive experience in administering Sybase IQ.

• Extensive experience with Sybase Replication Server, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of replication.

• Proficient in Solaris and Linux operating systems.

• Familiarity with Shell scripting for automating activities.

• Experience in performance analysis, troubleshooting, and resolving issues in database environments.

• Understanding of backup, restoration, recovery, and high availability practices.

• Experience supporting critical production environments.

• Preferred: Background in mission-critical and high-availability environments.

• Preferred: Knowledge of infrastructure, database monitoring, and observability.

• Preferred: Familiarity with automation and change management tools.

• Preferred: Understanding of database security, auditing, and access control measures.

• Preferred: Experience in high-volume transaction environments.
