This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain electrical design criteria, specifications, standard details, and Basis of Design documentation for Cerebras data center deployments.

• Convert AI system, rack, and cluster power needs into comprehensive facility electrical architectures, ensuring appropriate capacity, redundancy, selectivity, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with internal teams in manufacturing, hardware, mechanical, thermal, controls, networking, and systems engineering to establish power interfaces and deployment prerequisites.

• Design and evaluate utility services, medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, static transfer switches, busway, PDUs, RPPs, and rack-level power distribution.

• Conduct or assess load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, grounding, harmonic, voltage-drop, and reliability studies.

• Create power capacity models, one-line diagrams, equipment schedules, sequence-of-operations narratives, and technical specifications for high-density AI clusters.

• Review designs, calculations, submittals, equipment selections, and shop drawings from colocation providers, consultants, EPC contractors, and vendors.

• Align electrical requirements with liquid-cooling systems, CDUs, pumps, controls, life-safety systems, and other essential mechanical infrastructure.

• Assist in factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, integrated systems testing, energization, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.

• Detect electrical risks, constraints, long-lead equipment, and constructability challenges early, facilitating practical resolutions across both internal and external teams.

• Ensure that designs adhere to relevant codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL, NEMA, IEC, local utility requirements, and regional regulations.

• Assess new power technologies and vendors, integrating lessons learned into standardized global deployment practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.

• Over 7 years of experience in electrical engineering for mission-critical, hyperscale, colocation, semiconductor, industrial, or similarly complex environments.

• In-depth knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, busway, grounding, protection, metering, and rack power systems.

• Proficient in developing or reviewing electrical Basis of Design documents, specifications, one-line diagrams, calculations, and technical submissions.

• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, UL/NEMA requirements, and relevant electrical safety practices.

• Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, utilities, consultants, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and data center operators.

• Capability to review technical studies such as load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, voltage-drop, grounding, and harmonic analyses.

• Strong technical judgment, problem-solving skills, written communication abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.

• Willingness to travel to project sites, vendor facilities, and partner data centers as necessary.

• A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional registration.

• Experience with high-density AI, HPC, semiconductor, or liquid-cooled data center implementations.

• Familiarity with commissioning, integrated systems testing, and energization of mission-critical electrical systems.

• Knowledge of ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar electrical analysis tools, as well as BIM/Revit-based design coordination.

• Experience working with global colocation providers, utilities, EPC firms, and suppliers of long-lead electrical equipment.
