This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Provide support for the Microsoft SQL database environment, concentrating on database creation, performance, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overall reliability.
β’ Collaborate with application owners to facilitate daily operations, resolve issues, manage resources, and strategize future database upgrades.
β’ Execute database backup, recovery, and restoration tasks.
β’ Ensure database security and integrity controls while monitoring the availability and performance of the system.
β’ Assist in database creation, cloning, migration, and recovery processes.
β’ Aid in systems environment management, including monitoring database health and performance, planning and implementing upgrades, and transitioning environments.
β’ Provide support during off-hours and weekends as necessary.
β’ Develop, maintain, and enhance Windows and SQL PowerShell scripts, SSIS packages, and SSRS reports.
β’ Carry out additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
β’ Bachelorβs Degree with 2 or more years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
β’ Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server administration, including aspects such as database integrity, security, performance monitoring, and maintenance.
β’ Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving SQL Server database issues related to performance, connectivity, blocking, deadlocks, security, and data integrity.
β’ Capability to identify, analyze, and implement improvements in database performance tuning through query optimization, indexing strategies, and the use of monitoring and diagnostic tools.
β’ Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server architecture, standards, concepts, administrative tools, and best practices.
β’ Understanding of database backup and recovery methodologies, high availability solutions, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery strategies.
β’ Familiarity with IT operational processes, change management practices, and frameworks for technology service delivery.
β’ Experience in supporting and maintaining databases within complex enterprise environments.
β’ Working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, PowerShell scripting, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
β’ Experience with cloud-based database platforms and technologies, including administration, monitoring, and migration activities.
β’ Ability to document technical procedures, maintain system records, and comply with established operational standards.
β’ Strong verbal, written, presentation, and documentation skills.
β’ Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
β’ Demonstrated attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and quality.
β’ Ability to work independently while effectively contributing within a collaborative team environment.
β’ Availability to work a 4x10 schedule (Monday through Thursday) and occasional off-hours/weekend hours when required.
β’ Must possess identification that complies with the Real ID Act at the time of hire.
β’ Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy access badge.
β’ Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
β’ Technical certification in Microsoft SQL Server 2019, SQL Server 2022, or equivalent current database technologies is preferred.
