This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee the administration of Oracle database instances and their supporting services throughout their life cycle.
• Monitor the availability, capacity, storage, jobs, sessions, and overall operational health via Oracle Enterprise Manager and SolarWinds.
• Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and decommission database software in accordance with change-control standards.
• Ensure accurate documentation of configurations, maintenance, and operational procedures.
• Analyze database performance, SQL queries, wait-events, and resource utilization, implementing tuning measures as necessary.
• Manage indexing, statistics, tablespaces, memory allocation, and overall capacity.
• Investigate recurring issues and work towards eliminating root causes where feasible.
• Collaborate with application teams to promote efficient data access and deployment methodologies.
• Operate and validate Oracle’s backup, restore, and recovery protocols.
• Administer and test Data Guard along with other high-availability or disaster recovery features.
• Engage in recovery exercises, documenting outcomes, identifying gaps, and proposing corrective measures.
• Respond to urgent database incidents and after-hours escalations as needed.
• Manage database access, roles, privileges, auditing processes, and security configurations.
• Address database vulnerabilities and fulfill patching requirements within approved timeframes.
• Deliver project assignments and maintain accurate progress updates in Azure DevOps.
• Resolve Service Pro requests while exchanging knowledge with database, infrastructure, and application teams.
• Provide technical advice and advanced troubleshooting support to application and infrastructure teams.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in administering Oracle databases on Linux within an enterprise setting.
• Proficient in production monitoring, performance tuning, patch management, backup, and recovery processes.
• Experience in supporting Oracle high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Data Guard.
• Familiarity with process automation and scripting, particularly in bash.
• Proven experience in participating in projects and resolving complex database incidents.
• Expertise in Oracle Database administration, SQL, PL/SQL diagnostics, and performance evaluation.
• Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager, SolarWinds, Service Pro, and Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of backup and recovery principles, Data Guard, capacity planning, and storage management.
• Familiar with database security, access control, auditing, and change management practices.
• Ability to communicate clearly during incidents, maintenance activities, and change processes.
• Strong analytical troubleshooting skills and disciplined follow-through on root-cause analysis.
• Experience collaborating with application, infrastructure, security, and database teams.
• Demonstrated reliability in managing production environments and assigned responsibilities.
