Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Administer, maintain, and enhance both production and non-production databases as part of a large-scale data migration initiative.

• Execute database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning across both source and target environments.

• Monitor the health, availability, and performance of databases; proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any issues that arise.

• Oversee database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity during the migration process.

• Implement and uphold database security measures, including access management, encryption, and auditing protocols.

• Provision, configure, and manage database resources hosted on AWS, including scaling and monitoring activities.

• Assist in data conversion tasks, such as schema design, data loading, validation, and troubleshooting in collaboration with data analysts and developers.

• Work closely with developers, data analysts, and business analysts to facilitate API-driven data exchanges between systems.

• Aid in testing and validating migrated data to ensure completeness, integrity, and accuracy.

• Document database standards, configurations, migration processes, and insights gained throughout the engagement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.

• Over 6 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with significant hands-on experience in supporting data migration projects.

• Proven expertise in administering relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL).

• Practical experience with AWS cloud database services (e.g., RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, EC2-hosted databases), including provisioning, monitoring, and optimization.

• Proficient in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, or similar) to facilitate automation, conversion, and troubleshooting efforts.

• Experience in database backup/recovery, replication, and high-availability/disaster-recovery configurations.

• Strong knowledge of database security best practices, including access control, encryption, and auditing.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of independently diagnosing and resolving complex database issues.

• Outstanding written communication skills, with the capability to create clear technical documentation for both technical and business audiences.

• Must be eligible to obtain and retain a Public Trust or Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) suitability determination.

• Ability to work remotely while residing within the United States.
