This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
β’ Provide support for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle database environments for a federal civilian client.
β’ Conduct daily administrative tasks, which include installation, configuration, and patching.
β’ Monitor the health, performance, and job scheduling of databases, escalating issues to senior DBAs when necessary.
β’ Carry out routine backup and recovery processes and assist with periodic disaster recovery testing.
β’ Manage database user access requests, role management, and security auditing in compliance with agency policies.
β’ Aid in data migration efforts for cloud modernization and data center consolidation projects.
β’ Write and optimize basic to intermediate SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
β’ Ensure accurate documentation of database configurations, schedules, and standard operating procedures is maintained.
β’ Address database-related incident tickets in ServiceNow and engage in root cause analysis.
β’ Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours database support when required.
β’ Support Koniag IT Systems and its federal government client.
β’ A minimum of 4 years of experience in administering Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
β’ Working knowledge of database backup, recovery, and fundamental performance tuning concepts.
β’ Proficiency in writing SQL queries and troubleshooting standard database issues.
β’ Familiarity with database security and access control practices.
β’ Understanding of ITSM ticketing and change management processes.
β’ Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
β’ Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Capability to obtain public trust clearance.
β’ Experience in a federal government IT environment is preferred.
β’ Knowledge of FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST is preferred.
β’ Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database certification, or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is preferred.
β’ Exposure to AWS RDS or cloud-hosted database environments is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms is preferred.
