This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Act as the primary administrator for enterprise database, system, and network environments that support critical operations and maintenance activities.
• Design, implement, manage, monitor, and uphold enterprise database platforms, operating systems, and their supporting infrastructure.
• Oversee database performance, availability, scalability, integrity, and security across production, development, and testing environments.
• Manage relational and non-relational database management systems, including database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
• Monitor the health and performance of databases, identify bottlenecks, and apply tuning strategies to enhance system performance.
• Implement and sustain backup, recovery, replication, high-availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Support database security and compliance initiatives by establishing access controls, conducting audits, applying encryption, and addressing vulnerabilities.
• Administer enterprise server environments, including Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Assist with network infrastructure components and collaborate with network engineering teams to guarantee connectivity, performance, and reliability.
• Develop and uphold database standards, operational procedures, architecture documentation, and configuration baselines.
• Monitor system, network, and database environments to ensure operational readiness and continuity of service.
• Troubleshoot intricate database, system, and network issues and provide prompt resolutions to operational incidents.
• Support application deployments and system integrations by coordinating database configurations and technical requirements.
• Engage in change management, release management, and configuration management processes.
• Collaborate with developers, system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and stakeholders to facilitate enterprise operations and modernization efforts.
• Conduct database capacity planning, storage management, and resource optimization activities.
• Assist in cloud migration and modernization initiatives that involve database and infrastructure services.
• Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity mandates, organizational policies, and industry best practices.
• Support cybersecurity assessments, audits, Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, and ongoing monitoring requirements.
• Create operational dashboards, reports, and system metrics for management and customer stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior administrators and technical staff.
• Support 24/7 operational environments and participate in on-call support activities as necessary.
• Assess emerging technologies and suggest enhancements that improve availability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least ten (10) years of experience in supporting IT programs, systems, or enterprise technology environments.
• Experience in administering enterprise database platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar technologies.
• Proficiency in supporting enterprise server environments, operating systems, and infrastructure components.
• Experience in managing database backup and recovery, replication, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Expertise in database performance tuning, optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of network technologies, protocols, and infrastructure components.
• Experience in supporting operational sustainment, maintenance, and modernization activities in extensive IT environments.
• Proficiency in implementing database security controls, access management, and data protection mechanisms.
• Familiarity with ITIL-based operational processes, including incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Capability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability determination, Public Trust, Secret, or higher security clearance as mandated by the contract.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and/or Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) programs.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting mission-critical operations and sustainment environments within Federal Government agencies.
• Preferred: Experience in administering Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On, PostgreSQL clusters, or similar high-availability database solutions.
• Preferred: Knowledge of federal cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, CDM, and Zero Trust principles.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting cloud-hosted database services, cloud migrations, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Preferred: Familiarity with infrastructure automation, scripting, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.
• Preferred: Experience with monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Nagios, or similar platforms.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting cybersecurity audits, vulnerability remediation, STIG implementation, and compliance reporting activities.
• Preferred: Relevant certifications such as Oracle Database Administrator Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, AWS Database Specialty, Security+, Network+, CISSP, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent certifications.
