Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Administer and oversee database systems that support AAO applications

• Utilize Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL platforms

• Assist in the design, development, and integration of databases

• Install, configure, upgrade, migrate, provision, secure, patch, back up, and recover enterprise-level database systems

• Support critical database management systems

• Implement ANSI Standard SQL constructs for effective database administration

• Work with High Availability and Disaster Recovery database architectures

• Diagnose and resolve intricate database issues in collaboration with other DBAs

• Support client/server database networking environments

• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, VBScript, batch files, Unix, or other scripting languages

• Participate in on-call DBA rotation and address trouble tickets in accordance with SLAs

• Collaborate with Enterprise Applications stakeholders and engage with end-user communities throughout NASA

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum clearance requirement to begin: Public Trust

• Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a NASA Public Trust background investigation

• Preferred experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL databases in both single instance and clustered setups

• Experience with configuring and supporting MS SQL Availability Groups (AGs), Distributed Availability Groups (DAGs), Oracle Data Guard, and MySQL master-slave replication

• Proven experience in using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and MS T-SQL

• Proficient in configuring Oracle Net Services

• Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle RMAN, DataPump, and Data Guard

• Experience with Red Hat Linux and MS Windows Operating Systems within VMware environments

• Understanding of database consolidation and virtualization principles and best practices

• Level 1: BA/BS + 2 years recent specialized experience OR AA/AS + 2 years recent specialized experience OR a major certification + 3 years recent specialized experience OR 3 years recent specialized experience

• Level 2: Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience; equivalent experience accepted in place of degree

• Level 2: 4-6 years of experience as a Database Administrator

• Level 3: Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience; equivalent experience accepted in place of degree

• Level 3: 6-8 years of experience as a Database Administrator

• Automation skills using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files

• Experience in VMware ESXi environments

• Experience with network storage solutions (SAN/NAS)

• Experience with enterprise-level backup solutions (Level 1 and Level 3)

• Flexibility in schedule to support on-call DBA rotation and address trouble tickets within SLA requirements

• Strong communication, presentation, documentation, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
