Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and sustain database systems that support AAO applications

• Collaborate with platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL

• Innovate and enhance enterprise business solutions for NASA

• Interact with stakeholders of Enterprise Applications and user communities

• Diagnose and fix intricate database issues in conjunction with other DBAs

• Participate in on-call DBA rotation and address trouble tickets within specified SLAs

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum clearance needed to commence: Public Trust

• Must be eligible to secure and retain a NASA Public Trust background investigation

• Preferred experience with databases like Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL in both single instance and clustered environments

• Proficient in configuring and supporting MS SQL Availability Groups (AGs), Distributed Availability Groups (DAGs), Oracle Data Guard, and MySQL master-slave replication

• Proven experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and MS T-SQL

• Knowledgeable in the configuration of Oracle Net Services

• Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle RMAN, DataPump, and Data Guard

• Experience with Red Hat Linux and MS Windows Operating Systems on VMware

• Comprehension of database consolidation and virtualization principles and best practices

• Level 1: BA/BS + 2 years recent specialized experience, AA/AS + 2 years recent specialized experience, a major certification + 3 years recent specialized experience, or 3 years recent specialized experience

• Level 2: Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience, or equivalent experience in place of degree; 4–6 years of Database Administrator experience

• Level 3: Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree; 6–8 years of Database Administrator experience

• Automation experience using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files

• Experience operating in VMware ESXi environments

• Familiarity with network storage solutions (SAN/NAS)

• Experience with enterprise backup systems

• Strong knowledge of database design, development, and integration concepts

• Foundational understanding of database administration best practices and techniques

• Experience supporting mission-critical database management systems

• Understanding of ANSI Standard SQL constructs for Database Administration

• Proficient in installing, configuring, upgrading, migrating, provisioning, securing, patching, backing up, and recovering enterprise database systems

• Conceptual knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery database architectures

• Good grasp of networking concepts and principles in a client/server database setting

• Experience in Unix, PowerShell, or other scripting languages

• Strong communication, presentation, documentation, and organizational skills

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Schedule flexibility to assist in on-call DBA rotation and respond to trouble tickets within SLA obligations
