Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage daily operations of production, non-production, and redundant database environments for both internal and customer settings.

• Develop and uphold database management policies, procedures, and standards.

• Monitor transaction activities and database usage.

• Evaluate database designs and system integrations, providing recommendations for enhancements or improvements.

• Create, oversee, and test backup and recovery strategies.

• Ensure database security and integrity controls are maintained.

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, monitor, and resolve issues in PostgreSQL database environments.

• Enhance PostgreSQL performance through query optimization, index strategy, vacuum and analyze tuning, and database parameter adjustments.

• Manage Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora for PostgreSQL.

• Assist with database migration and data integration tasks utilizing AWS Database Migration Service and AWS Glue.

• Track database performance, resource utilization, availability, and operational health, implementing necessary corrective measures.

• Collaborate with architecture, engineering, security, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project completion.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a computer-related discipline from an accredited institution, coupled with five or more years of relevant experience, or a comparable mix of education, certification, training, and experience.

• Practical experience in PostgreSQL database administration, which includes installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.

• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning, such as query optimization, index strategy, vacuum and analyze tuning, and parameter configuration.

• Proficient in monitoring and troubleshooting PostgreSQL database performance, resource utilization, and availability.

• Skilled in administering Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora for PostgreSQL.

• Strong SQL development abilities across online transaction processing and analytical data platforms.

• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the capability to follow complex instructions.

• Competent in organizing work for prompt completion while fostering effective, collaborative working relationships.

• Experience with AWS Lake Formation and the deployment and management of data lakes.

• Basic understanding of Amazon Redshift architecture and service model, including role-based access control, user and group management, and security permissions.

• Familiarity with AWS Glue and AWS Database Migration Service.

• Database certification in PostgreSQL or Oracle is preferred.

• Must maintain a reliable internet connection at all times.

• Must be willing to travel as required for company meetings.
