Data Quality Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the integrity, validation, and reliability of data pipelines that drive the product.

• Design and implement frameworks for data quality assurance and validation.

• Collaborate with various teams within the organization to roll out new features, assist internal stakeholders, and enhance data infrastructure.

• Work closely with the Senior Engineer, Quantitative Modeler, and Solutions Architect to validate the data that feeds into the product and financial models, ensuring readiness for launch.

• Engage in stand-ups and milestone meetings.

• Act as the quality checkpoint for data between vendor ingestion and product delivery.

• Set up post-launch monitoring and documentation for data quality.

• Identify data quality risks and vendor-related issues to the Director of Engineering.

• Manage relationships with external data vendors and oversee ongoing data quality validation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python coding for production systems using modular code instead of Jupyter notebooks.

• Familiar with Git workflows and collaborative code review processes.

• Experience with Docker images and container build tools.

• Skilled in designing data validation and verification pipelines, including automated testing.

• Capable of conducting data quality assessments and feasibility analyses for solutions.

• Proficient in data exploration and engineering tools, such as pandas and SQL.

• Experience with DAG-based ETL orchestration using Prefect or similar tools.

• Knowledge of AWS, particularly S3.

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data quality, or analytics engineering roles.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

• Experience in managing or coordinating with external data vendors, including troubleshooting data quality issues.

• Background in fast-paced, cross-functional environments, ideally in support of product launches or similar high-stakes deliveries.

• Experience collaborating with quantitative or financial teams, such as financial modeling or data science, or experience in climate tech is highly regarded.

• Must have authorization to work in the US.
