Data Platform Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain scalable, secure, and dependable data pipelines and platform components utilizing AWS and Snowflake.

• Assist in defining and executing projects aimed at modernizing outdated data flows, integrating batch and streaming sources, and facilitating self-service analytics.

• Implement and enhance engineering standards related to testing, observability, security, and CI/CD within data systems.

• Incorporate AI features into data pipelines, such as anomaly detection and automated tagging.

• Leverage AI in development processes, including assisted testing and documentation.

• Remain updated on agentic and AI-driven data platform workflows and disseminate insights with the team.

• Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify risks, and propose effective solutions.

• Partner with Analytics, ML, Finance, and other business teams to deliver data that meets latency, accuracy, and governance requirements.

• Articulate technical work, limitations, and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

• Engage in technical design discussions, code reviews, and the advancement of data architecture.

• Manage issues through production while ensuring quality, documentation, and adherence to engineering standards.

• Cultivate technical judgment through collaboration with peers and share insights with the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in constructing data pipelines using Snowflake and AWS-native tools (e.g., Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Step Functions).

• Hands-on experience with real-time data systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, or Spark Streaming.

• Strong understanding of data modeling, schema evolution, and secure, privacy-conscious data design.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Some familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform or CDK).

• Practical application of AI tools in your development workflow, along with an interest in integrating AI into the platform itself.

• Proven track record of delivering projects from initiation to completion, with a focus on the associated business value.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; a dependable partner for both engineering and business teams.

• Self-motivated in uncertain situations: adept at asking insightful questions, responding to feedback, and expanding scope over time.

• Experience with dbt or analytics engineering patterns (preferred).

• Familiarity with ML platform tools or feature store design (preferred).

• Background in fintech, credit risk, or other regulated data environments (preferred).
