Data Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the infrastructure layer from start to finish, overseeing the provisioning and management of development, staging, and production data environments through Infrastructure as Code.

• Design and implement IAM policies, role-based access controls, secrets rotation, and secure provisioning for external BI tools like Looker and Tableau.

• Set up GitLab runners and automated CI/CD pipelines tailored for data workflows.

• Manage integrations across repositories, data warehouses, orchestration frameworks, and analytics tools.

• Establish observability frameworks, proactive alerting, and efficient root-cause analysis for pipelines and infrastructure.

• Conduct audits of resource utilization, create cost-allocation tags, optimize expenditures, and ensure disaster recovery readiness.

• Serve as a bridge between Data Engineering, Core Infrastructure, and IT to facilitate unblocking engineers and ensuring secure delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (such as Terraform, Pulumi, or similar) within a data or analytics platform context.

• Demonstrated expertise in cloud IAM, secrets management, and security hardening in data platform environments.

• Proficient in operating CI/CD pipelines, especially GitLab, with experience in customizing them for data engineering workflows.

• Knowledgeable about modern data stack integrations, including cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift), orchestration tools, and BI platforms.

• Experience in implementing observability and monitoring solutions for data infrastructure.

• Proven history of cost governance, including auditing cloud expenses, tagging resources, and providing optimization recommendations.

• Experience in supporting BI tool access provisioning (Looker, Tableau) or serving as an internal developer advocate within a data team is a plus.
