Data Management Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary data steward for a designated business domain on a daily basis

• Ensure the metadata for domain data assets is accurate and complete

• Implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards

• Collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders to identify data requirements and address data-related inquiries and issues

• Oversee data quality in accordance with established standards and metrics

• Detect, document, and assist in resolving data quality issues, escalating systemic or cross-domain challenges to the Manager

• Aid in root-cause analysis for persistent data quality concerns

• Regularly update and maintain the data catalog and data dictionary

• Ensure that definitions, lineage, and classifications remain current and accurate

• Record data governance processes, decisions, and resolutions of issues

• Assist in data classification initiatives

• Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA

• Notify the Manager of any potential compliance or data handling issues

• Engage in data literacy training and empowerment activities

• Contribute suggestions for process enhancements

• Work with other Data Specialists and the Manager to uphold consistent standards across various domains

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in data management, data quality, or data stewardship, preferably in the financial services, banking, or wealth management sectors

• Proficient understanding of data governance principles, encompassing metadata management, data classification, and data quality practices

• Familiarity with data governance or catalog tools like Data.World, Informatica, Collibra, or Alation is advantageous

• Exceptional attention to detail with the capability to maintain organized and accurate documentation

• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with business and technical stakeholders across different time zones

• Comfortable working autonomously in a remote, offshore team environment while ensuring alignment with a US-based manager

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical experience
