Data Engineering Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with experts in data science, engineering, manufacturing, and operations.

• Design and build data pipelines that support ML-Ops systems.

• Securely access, align, transform, merge, and integrate operational technology, historian, industrial sensor, video, and audio data.

• Pre-process data at suitable frequencies for AI technologies.

• Develop data pipelines and design experiments in an agile manner.

• Utilize Aveva PI AF, EF, and other PI tools effectively.

• Ensure data validation, merging, and engineering meet business use case requirements.

• Define and enhance data quality metrics that focus on business objectives.

• Assess data cleanliness and identify biases within datasets.

• Experiment with, build, and refine data pipelines and methodologies.

• Apply data mining techniques to discover patterns and correlations.

• Algorithmically augment datasets or incorporate third-party information.

• Improve data collection methods for engineering and manufacturing automation and optimization systems.

• Collaborate with data engineering specialists to guarantee reliable data processing, cleansing, integrity, and availability during 24/7 operations.

• Clearly present findings from data mining and initial analyses.

• Work alongside the 24/7/365 ML-Ops team to monitor the performance of data feeding ML/AI models over time.

• Integrate time-series data into geo-spatial tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s, Master’s degree, or PhD in a relevant field.

• Strong understanding of data engineering, data mining, and statistical modeling.

• Experience with essential data engineering toolkits such as ex-OSIsoft Aveva PI (mandatory), Insights Hub, Azure IoT, AWS IIoT/Sitewise.

• Familiarity with geo-spatial toolkits like Esri ArcGIS is an advantage.

• Hands-on experience with time-series databases, particularly with data from industrial sensors.

• Proficient scripting skills, particularly in Python, SQL, and PowerShell.

• Experience with cloud hosting solutions, including Aveva and AWS.

• Strong data storytelling communication skills are a significant plus.

• Proficiency with data visualization tools.

• Familiarity with query languages such as SQL.

• Experience with NoSQL databases.

• Strong teamwork abilities.

• Authorization to work in the country where the position is based.
