Data Engineer – Snowflake

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain pipelines and workflows that empower customers to leverage their data.

• Convert raw data sources into clean, dependable, and scalable data streams.

• Construct scalable pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data from EHRs, claims, APIs, and CRM systems into analytics-ready structures in Snowflake.

• Integrate pipeline development with version control and CI/CD to ensure repeatable deployments, change tracking, and approval processes.

• Analyze query profiles, optimize queries, and troubleshoot Snowflake workloads.

• Oversee warehouse sizing, scaling policies, and considerations related to credits and costs.

• Collaborate directly with client architects and analysts to clarify and implement technical tradeoffs.

• Educate counterparts on how to support and enhance project deliverables.

• Adapt to new and challenging technical environments.

• Manage complex work streams, schedules, deadlines, and personal deliverables.

• Proactively identify issues and escalate them effectively.

• Mentor and guide team members.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or similar roles.

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake in a production setting.

• Strong development experience with Snowflake, including query profile analysis, optimization, and debugging.

• Familiarity with virtual warehouse sizing, scaling policies, and credit/cost management.

• Experience with COPY INTO, Snowpipe, external stages, and external tables.

• Understanding of clustering keys, micro-partition behavior, materialized views, Time Travel, and zero-copy cloning.

• Knowledge of Snowflake roles, grants, and RBAC hierarchy design.

• Proficiency in Python or another programming/scripting language such as Scala or Java.

• Experience with dbt, Snowflake Streams and Tasks, Dynamic Tables, Snowpark (Python), Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or other orchestration frameworks.

• Solid foundation in ETL/ELT principles, dimensional and data-vault-style modeling, and data warehousing concepts.

• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), along with basic knowledge of storage and networking as they pertain to Snowflake integrations.

• A suitable home office setup for remote work.
