Data Engineer, SAP BW

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain SAP BW data models, which include InfoCubes, InfoObjects, InfoProviders, ADSOs, CompositeProviders, and MultiProviders.

• Lead and facilitate the migration of BW 7.x models and logic to SAP Business Data Cloud, encompassing Datasphere data modeling, Data Fabric integration, and SAC reporting enablement.

• Transform BW InfoObjects, InfoProviders, and transformation logic into CDS views and semantically rich data models for BDC usage.

• Map legacy BW objects to modern Datasphere entities, such as Datasets, Views, Replication Flows, and Data Builder objects.

• Improve the performance of BW and Datasphere through query optimization, process chain tuning, load orchestration, and data flow monitoring.

• Collaborate with business analysts, data architects, and functional SAP teams to convert business requirements into technical solutions.

• Assist in the development and migration of reporting from BEx Queries to SAC Stories, Models, and Analytic Applications.

• Uphold data quality, governance, lineage, and metadata standards across SAP BW, Datasphere, and enterprise data environments.

• Diagnose and resolve data load issues, system performance challenges, and integration errors.

• Document technical designs, data flows, conversion strategies, and operational procedures.

• Contribute to Raytheon’s data modernization efforts within its Data, Analytics, and AI organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree or equivalent experience, along with at least 8 years of relevant experience; alternatively, an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

• Extensive hands-on experience with SAP BW (7.x) and/or BW/4HANA.

• Proficiency in InfoProviders, ADSOs, Open ODS Views, CompositeProviders, Process Chains, and BEx query development.

• Experience in migrating SAP BW objects to SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) utilizing SAP Datasphere.

• Practical experience in converting InfoObjects and InfoProviders into CDS Views or similar semantic models for cloud consumption.

• Familiarity with SAP ECC/S4 modules and extractors, including FI/CO, SD, MM, and HR.

• Experience in enabling analytics within SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), including model creation, story development, and Datasphere integration.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required.

• An active and existing DoD Secret clearance is required from day one.

• Knowledge of ABAP for BW enhancements is preferred.

• Familiarity with cloud data technologies, such as Snowflake, is preferred.

• Experience with Agile methodologies is preferred.

• Exposure to DataOps or CI/CD pipelines for data solutions is preferred.

• SAP BW/4HANA or SAP Datasphere certification is preferred.

• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
