This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance dependable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and distribute data across Dave's data platform.
• Lead data engineering initiatives and pipelines from implementation to testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
• Utilize Snowflake, dbt, Airflow/Cloud Composer, APIs, files, and cloud services to facilitate production workloads.
• Optimize production workloads for reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Assist in warehouse development through schema design, data modeling, testing, documentation, data quality practices, and query optimization.
• Enhance processes for ingestion, orchestration, validation, retries, backfills, monitoring, and alerting.
• Minimize recurring operational tasks.
• Employ AI-assisted engineering tools for development, debugging, documentation, and analysis while ensuring accuracy, security, review, and engineering standards are upheld.
• Collaborate with Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Risk, Marketing, Product, and Engineering teams.
• Gradually assume wider technical and domain ownership.
• Report to the Data Engineering Manager.
• Over 2 years of experience in software or data engineering, particularly in building or supporting production data systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficient programming skills in Python, Java, or another general-purpose programming language.
• Strong SQL proficiency.
• Experience in constructing or maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Familiarity with dbt, Fivetran, or similar tools.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Proficient with orchestration tools like Airflow or Cloud Composer.
• Knowledge of data modeling, data quality, relational data, and query and performance optimization.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including version control, testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot production systems in a systematic manner.
• Effective communication skills with both technical and business partners.
