Data Engineer – Fulfillment & Logistics Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design and manage scalable data products along with ETL and ELT pipelines for fulfillment and logistics operations.

• Combine data from order management systems, marketplaces, shipping carriers, and tracking systems to provide a comprehensive view of orders and deliveries.

• Create models for data associated with shipping, delivery, returns, refunds, and partner performance.

• Build the data infrastructure necessary for SLA monitoring, performance analysis, and dashboards for internal teams and partners.

• Make fulfillment and tracking data accessible to other product areas and digital services, including Customer Service.

• Integrate event-driven data sources, including Kafka.

• Ensure data quality, governance, and privacy while continually enhancing monitoring and quality assurance processes.

• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations.

• Take ownership of data products from initial business requirements through to production operations.

• Actively participate in the Data Engineering Practice and assist in the development of shared standards and methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.

• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.

• Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and data modeling.

• Experience in integrating operational or transactional systems and APIs.

• Knowledge of a modern data stack, preferably Snowflake, dbt, and Prefect.

• Experience with Kafka or similar event and streaming technologies.

• Understanding of AWS.

• Ideally, experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.

• Good grasp of data quality and Data Governance principles.

• Proven experience working with cross-functional product or development teams.

• A self-motivated, organized, and solution-oriented approach to tasks.

• Proficiency in German at least at B2 level.

• Proficiency in English.

• Nice to have: Experience with order, fulfillment, logistics, or shipping data.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with OMS, carrier, or tracking systems and their interfaces.

• Nice to have: Experience in SLA and performance monitoring or data-driven partner management.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of Data Mesh and domain-oriented data products.

• Nice to have: Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Metabase, or Power BI.

• Nice to have: Experience in an e-commerce, marketplace, or platform environment.
