This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Design, implement, and enhance scalable data pipelines to ensure reliable and secure data flows.
• Model and transform data in line with contemporary best practices, including versioning, historization, and thorough documentation.
• Create and manage ETL and ELT processes alongside orchestrated data pipelines.
• Utilize modern cloud technologies, preferably AWS, and assist in the growth of the data platform.
• Employ Infrastructure as Code methodologies, ideally using Pulumi or Terraform, to guarantee the consistent and scalable evolution of the data platform.
• Assess and refine data processes with a focus on performance, scalability, stability, and data quality.
• Work closely with Data Scientists, analysts, product teams, and developers to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
• Contribute actively to the ongoing development of data engineering standards and the modernization of the BI and data landscape.
• Establish a company-wide data foundation serving as a single source of truth for analytics and reporting.
• Multiple years of practical experience in data engineering, preferably in production cloud data platform environments.
• Extensive knowledge of SQL and Python.
• Familiarity with modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Prefect or Airflow, BigQuery, or similar tools.
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and the construction of robust data pipelines.
• Proficiency with AWS or a similar cloud platform.
• Initial exposure to Infrastructure as Code, ideally with Pulumi or Terraform.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts effectively.
• Independent, organized, and solutions-focused working approach.
• Openness to working in an agile environment, collaborating within a team, and striving for continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in German at least at B2 level and fluent in English.
• Residency in Germany is a prerequisite.
• Experience in e-commerce or familiarity with marketplace and platform business models (desirable).
• Knowledge of BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI (desirable).
• Experience with event streaming or distributed data architectures, e.g., Kafka or Spark (desirable).
• Understanding of data quality, data governance, and monitoring (desirable).
• Experience working with cross-functional product teams (desirable).
